• Email realestate@dos.ny.gov for a temporary password.
• Include your full name as it appears on your New York State issued driver's (or non-driver's) license, your driver's (or non-driver's) license ID number, and the email address you wish to use as your User ID on eAccessNY.

• Once NYS responds to your email and your account is set up, log in using your User ID (email address) and the temporary password you were sent.
• Ensure you have added egateway@dos.ny.gov to your contact list or safe sender list to receive all necessary emails.

Once logged in, you'll be taken to your eAccessNY account dashboard. From here, you'll be able to navigate to the exam scheduling section.

• Click on "Apply to Take an Exam": Look for the option that allows you to apply to schedule the state real estate exam. This will be displayed on the dashboard as the first link.
• Complete the Information About Yourself: The form will ask for your Name, Date of Birth, Address, Phone Number, and whether you're a New York State Resident.
• Select the Exam Type: You'll be prompted to choose the type of real estate exam you wish to take. Make sure to select Initial Sales Exam (Salesperson), not Broker, to avoid any issues.

Now it's time to select where and when you want to take the state exam.

• Select a Location: Choose from the available testing locations in New York. Make sure to select a location that is convenient for you.
• Pick a Date and Time: You’ll be presented with a calendar showing available dates and times for your chosen exam location. Select the date and time that works best for you.

After selecting your exam location and date, you’ll need to confirm your exam details and make a payment.

• Review Your Exam Details: Double-check the information to ensure everything is correct, including the exam type, location, date, and time.
• Proceed to Payment: Follow the instructions to make a payment for the exam fee. This can typically be done via credit card or another accepted payment method.

If you already have a sponsoring broker, you can bring this information with you to the exam. Providing your sponsoring broker’s details at the time of the exam can expedite the licensing process.

• Prepare Your Sponsoring Broker Information: Before the exam, gather all necessary details about your sponsoring broker, including their name, license number, and contact information.
• Submit Sponsoring Broker Information at the Exam: When you arrive at the testing center, you may have the opportunity to submit your sponsoring broker's details. This step is optional but recommended as it can streamline your application process once you pass the exam.

By providing your sponsoring broker’s information at the exam, you’ll be able to quickly move forward with your licensing application, reducing the time it takes to officially become a licensed real estate agent.

After you’ve completed the payment, you’ll receive an exam confirmation notice.

• Check Your Email: eAccessNY will send a confirmation email with all the details of your scheduled exam.
• Print Your Confirmation Notice: It’s a good idea to print out your confirmation notice and bring it with you on the day of the exam, although you may also be able to show it on your phone.

Make sure to arrive at the testing location at least 30 minutes before your scheduled exam time.

You’ll need to bring a valid form of ID to the testing center.

Study well in advance and ensure you’re familiar with all the exam topics. Remember, the real estate licensing exam is a significant step in your career, so take it seriously.
